--------------------------------

The Beyond Sport London Legacy Award is the search for the best project or initiative in London which uses sport as a vehicle for positive social change.

In partnership with The Mayor of London's Office and The Evening Standard, the Award will celebrate the best such project that London has to offer and will provide a tangible legacy for Beyond Sport's Host City for 2009.

A shortlist of five projects for this Award was announced on Monday 15th June with each project receiving an invitation to attend the Beyond Sport Summit. Click here to view the shortlist and vote for the winner.

The winning project will be announced at the Summit during a special presentation ceremony, hosted by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, on the evening of Wednesday, July 8. The project will receive £60,000 of funding, provided jointly by Beyond Sport and the Mayor of London, over three years.

Coping Through Football is a ground-breaking project delivered in Waltham Forest since 2007 which sees two sports charities (London Playing Fields Foundation and Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme) working with the statutory health service (North East London Foundation Trust) to create a sustainable recovery model for one of society’s most marginalised groups, the long term mentally ill.

The winner will be chosen by an online public vote and we therefore need as many people as possible to click on the website and register their vote.

For any further information please contact us Jo @ The London Playing Fields Foundation on 0845 026 2292 or email jo.mckenzie@lpff.org.uk. Alternatively, contact Andrew McSteen at Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme on 020 8556 5973 or email andrew.mcsteen@locsp.org.
