LOCSP Press Release: Wednesday 25 February 2009

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL FUN AT DRAPERS

Leyton, London – Last Friday saw over 30 young people from across east London attend the Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme (LOCSP) NFL Flag Football half-term mini camp.
Participants learnt the rules of the game and drills including how to throw the ball, receive the ball, ‘tackle’, snatch the flag and what different type of runs a receiver can make before taking part in a small-side game.

Paul Motion, LOCSP NFL Flag Football Development Officer said:

“Our half-term NFL Flag Football camp went very well with young people from across the local boroughs travelling in to take part.

“The young people who were most enthusiastic were given trophies for their good work and we have signed up some more names for our Friday night Flag Football sessions at Drapers.”
Since 2007 LOCSP have been running regular ‘Friday Night is NFL Flag Football Night’ sessions at Drapers Field, Leyton from 4pm – 6pm and allow girls and boys aged 14-18 the chance to learn the game.

The sessions also give young people the chance to learn about American Football rules and history whilst gaining a better understanding of the worldwide game.
